To be a church where the generations converge

to enjoy God and change the world...

In the Spring of 2007 we set out to plant a new church, a new type of church that really wasn't so new. We set out to plant a church that wasn't driven by programs but instead embraced simplicity. We set out to plant a church that didn't continually fragment the family into specialized teachings but that intentionally brought the family together under the Word of God. We set out to plant a church that didn't skim the surface of feel-good pop-theology, but that dove deep into the historic doctrines of grace. We set out to plant a church that wasn't merely missions-minded, but that has a passion to take the gospel locally and globally. We set out to plant a church that wasn't fueled by consumerism, but that was driven by the gospel. By God's grace we are continuing to become that church. The story began in 2007 and continues on today...

OUR LAND And BUILDING...

The Dream: We were very satisfied with not having a building because ultimately the church is not a building but a community of people. But we did have a dream of one day owning land in Harbins and of having a facility on that land that would be a center from which we could minister to the community, grow in our fellowship with one another, and ultimately worship our God on a regular basis. We didn’t know when or where these dreams might materialize, and we knew that in all probability it was many years off, but we kept that dream on our “Him-Possible” prayer list.

The Dream Begins: In August of 2007 a man was awakened from his dreams in the middle of the night feeling compelled by God to give land to a new church in the Harbins area. We soon found out that we were that church. A mere four months after launching our church in the Harbins area, we were being promised 16.4 acres of prime real estate, strategically located in the center of the Harbins community. In early 2008 we were informed that the same donor of the land wanted to match any contributions made to the building for up to one million dollars. Needless to say, we were praising God for such generosity, but our praises only increased the following week when the donor decided to simply give the money needed to build our first building. Our congregation would need to raise its own money for the furniture and other finishings inside the building. Our praise and gratitude toward God, as well as our amazement at the ways in which He works, simply increased as these things began to take shape. As it turns out we didn't even have to buy furnishings as all of those things were provided to us as well from other churches. God has spectacularly provided all we need, and more. In April of 2008 the land was officially deeded over to Harbins Community Baptist Church, and on April 11th, 2010 we had our first service in our new building.

The Dream Continues: We continue to dream. We don’t know what God might do next. But we do hope that our building becomes a center from which we impact our community and and our world for the glory of God. We envision our building as being a facility that we “give back to the community” by allowing it to be a place for more than just Sunday worship. Our hope is for our building to be a tool in God’s hands to equip the people of God with the Word of God to do the work of God for the glory of God. We invite you to come be a part of the dream.
